Known as the “twitchhiker” now, Paul Smith was able to travel 11,000 miles from Gateshead to Auckland, New Zealand. The price of Smith’s trip: not a dime from his pocket. He was able to fund the entire trip from his contacts on Twitter.
Smith, a freelance writer, wanted to finish the trek within 30 days, and completed his goal. He did not pay for a single meal along the way either. Flights, cabs, trains, ships, horse rides, or whatever else Smith used as transportation was absolutely free through his Twitter donors.
I’m waiting for the next stage of Twitter’s emergence. Perhaps a reality show called “Tweality TV.” Give it about 6 months or so.
