There is only one way to describe the performance of the University of Massachusetts offense on Wednesday night. If they were playing a game of 21 in the backyard, they would still be trying to break the ice.
The University of Delaware used a suffocating 2-3 defense to lead them past the host Minutewomen 56-42.
Using their length and athleticism, the Blue Hens were able to sag into their zone and force the Minutewomen into forced shots, sloppy turnovers, and multiple shot clock violations.
- 27% shooting for the game(16-59)
- 21% from beyond the arc(5-23)
- 24 TURNOVERS!
Delaware has been a strong defensive team all season. They have only allowed their opponents to score more than 60 points in a game one time, holding teams to an average of 51 points per game.
For UMass, they scored 21 points below their season average. Senior guard and scoring leader Stefanie Gerardot finished with only five points, well below her season average of 17.
The Minutewomen have 10 days off to find their rhythm on offense before they play host to Northeastern on December 20th.
